Nodebuster Review

Nodebuster is a simple game packed with fun. An entry in the ever-growing genre of small, incremental-type games, Nodebuster provides a few hours of fun at a very reasonable price.

The game's premise is simple enough: move your cursor on top of the enemies while triggering automatic attacks. Enemies drop resources that let you upgrade your skills. Eventually, you'll fight a boss, which gives you some rare resources and access to the next level. Keep powering up and progressing to the end of the game.

The game itself is well-polished. The graphics are simple but have a nice overall visual when coupled with the effects and mood of the game. The sound design is simple but keeps the game casual rather than adding needless pressure. Overall, the game is aimed at being a somewhat relaxing experience, and it hits the mark well.

Nodebuster features roughly half a dozen achievements that would be nearly impossible to miss if you play through the game to its end. There aren't hidden secrets or missable collectables to worry about, just a few hours of relaxing fun. I played through the game in roughly one sitting while listening to an audiobook.

Nodebuster isn't the kind of game looking to win a game of the year, but what it does, it does well. If you're in the mood for something quick, easy to pick up and well-polished, I'd recommend picking it up.

Rating: 3/4 - I'd be happy if more games were like this.
